About Us

Hello! I'm glad you're here! I am a board-certified Psychiatric/ Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Registered Nurse, living in Florida. I have a natural, holistic approach to healthcare, and believe the mind, body, and spirit are all integral to each individual's well-being. I feel the goal of psychiatry should be the least number of medications, at the lowest dosages, to allow you to thrive and feel like yourself. I specialize in mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, prolonged grief, and PTSD, as well as the neurodevelopmental disorder of ADHD. My communication style is more warm, soft-spoken, and conversational. I believe that when we treat each other with mutual kindness and respect, we form good relationships. As we go through life and are surrounded by bills, judgment, and criticism, we can lose sight of this. I hope to remind people to find their “inner child” again - full of joy, wonder, and hope for the future.

My Approach - I believe that you are the expert on you! You can tell when something is wrong, even if you can't say exactly what that is. Perhaps you have undiagnosed autism or ADHD, have a mood or trauma disorder, or are stuck grieving from a deep loss, and perhaps you've even resorted to "self-medicating" and have developed an addiction you're ready to resolve. It is my job to come alongside you so that together, we can explore your concerns and develop a plan of care that is optimal for you.

My Client Focus - Life is hard! Childhood neglect or abuse, various trials and traumas throughout life, and unexpected betrayals and loss can all create a devastating cascade affecting our thoughts, as well as the very wiring within our brains. PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Grief - these can all stem from situations that create dysfunctional pathways in our brains, which interrupt the healthy ratios of neurochemicals released. This is when we need a combined approach of medication management with therapy. Just like a diabetic needs medication and healthy living choices, sometimes good mental health requires medication and therapeutic counseling. Goal setting is unique to each person! You set the goal for your life; I am here to walk beside you and help you achieve your goals. I believe this is your health, your body, your life, and I would be honored if you allowed me to be a part of it.

What You Can Expect - Our first session will be focused on a thorough intake of your health history, both physical and mental, medication history, and getting to know what you've been through, what you are struggling with currently, and what your goals are for your future. Just like it has taken you years to be where you are today, it may take a number of visits to get you going on the path to where you want to be, so understand this is a process. This is also a time for you to assess me and see if you feel comfortable working with me. Finding a new provider is always a challenge, and it is important that you "click" with your providers - that you feel comfortable being open and honest with them. I hope you will feel welcome and confident in trusting me to be one of your providers.

My Journey to Becoming a Provider - I have wanted to be a nurse since I was "knee-high to a grasshopper" because I wanted to help people, and when I was in elementary school during recess, I would stand under the metal climbing dome - which was my "office" - and I would play "psychiatrist" to my classmates, listening to their struggles and trying to help them as best I could. I became a young, stay-at-home momma, and homeschooled my children through graduation, then completed my education to become a Registered Nurse, working in Critical Care for many years (ICU, PCU, Telemetry), and also teaching Childbirth classes on the side. Eventually, I left the hospital and became a Hospice nurse, being the primary nurse and case manager for people in their own homes. When I went back to school to become an NP (Nurse Practitioner), I discovered how very few mental health providers are available, and I felt called to specialize in Psychiatry (PMHNP). I love getting to know my patients, their values, and even their families, and helping them to discover their best possible selves.
